The Travis PTA Nominating Committee is slating candidates for the 2017-2018 Executive Board. Read about all of the PTA positions available and submit a self-nomination using the form below.
If you would like a position on the executive board (president, 1st VP, 2nd VP/membership, 3rd VP/programs, 4th VP/ways & means, 5th VP/communications, 6th VP/student activities, 7th VP/staff appreciation 8th VP/volunteers, recording secretary or treasurer), please select your first three choices from the executive board menu below.

* EXECUTIVE BOARD MEMBERS (Plan to attend all PTA Board meetings as a voting member of the Executive Board)
** PRESIDENT - Presides over all board and general meetings. Serves as member of all committees except Nominating and Reconciliation. Represents Travis in community. Refer to bylaws for a complete description of responsibilities. (May & Aug planning, 4 hours weekly + exec board meetings + special events)
** 1st VICE PRESIDENT - Acts as aide to president. May be called upon at any time to temporarily assume the role of president. Directs the chairmen listed below. This person should consider becoming president the following year. (May planning, 8 hours monthly + exec board meetings)
1st VP Positions & Teams
** 2nd VP MEMBERSHIP - Recruits new members year round, collects dues and maintains membership records. Reports membership numbers to Texas PTA in a timely manner. Collects nominations and plans the presentation of the PTA lifetime member awards, to take place in Spring (e.g., during Feb or March general meeting). Directs the chairmen listed below. (May planning, Aug & Sept 5 hours monthly then 2 hours monthly + exec board meetings)
2nd VP - Membership Positions & Teams
** 3rd VP PROGRAMS - Arranges general PTA meetings through office and district along with welcoming members to meetings. Enhances Travis community by providing hospitality through greeters, name tags, registration sheets and refreshments. Directs committees listed below. (May planning, 3 hours each event + exec board meetings)
3rd VP Programs Team (4 people) work together to plan, promote and host events listed below
** 4th VP WAYS & MEANS - In charge of creating successful ways to finance the work of the PTA. Directs committees listed below. (May planning, 2 hours weekly + exec board meetings)
4th VP - Ways & Means Teams
** 5th VP COMMUNICATIONS - In charge of communicating the activities of the PTA to its members. Works closely with VP of Programs and VP of Ways & Means to help guide and provide PR for their events. Directs the committees listed below. (May planning, 4 hours fall planning, 2 hours weekly + exec board meetings)
5th VP - Communications Positions & Teams
** 6th VP STUDENT ACTIVITIES - In charge of creating successful student activities sponsored by the PTA. Directs the committees listed below. (4 hours fall planning, 2 hours weekly + exec board meetings)
6th VP - Student Activities Teams
** 7th VP STAFF APPRECIATION - In charge of creating successful staff appreciation events. Directs the committees listed below. (May planning, 2 hours planning for each event + exec board meetings)
7th VP - Staff Appreciation Team (5 people) work together to plan and host the events listed below
** 8th VP VOLUNTEERS - In charge of planning, promoting and hosting the volunteer orientation/ training for parents in September. Maintains volunteer hours records. Directs the volunteer recruitment team and works with the faculty liaison. (May planning, Aug & Sept 10 hours monthly, Oct-May 6 hours monthly + exec board meetings)
** RECORDING SECRETARY - Attends and takes minutes at all PTA Board and PTA General Meetings. Types, copies and distributes minutes at meetings. The secretary keeps accurate records of PTA proceedings. (2 hours monthly + exec board meetings)
** TREASURER - Accounting experience preferred. Handles the organization's funds. Writes checks, balances accounts, keeps ledgers for all committees, and coordinates disbursements with the president. Creates budget in conjunction with Officers and committee Chairs. Prepares the books for the tax accountant to prepare the tax return. Submits books to Reconciliation Committee. Directs the Budget Committee and Teacher Wish List/Gifting sub chairs. (weekly 5 hours and additional time during PTA events: Treasure Travis, Fall Festival, student community service project + exec board meetings)
** PARLIAMENTARIAN (Appointed) - Provides assistance to board members as needed. Ensures use of parliamentary procedure during meetings. Updates bylaws and standing rules when necessary (1 hour weekly + exec board meetings)
