Turns out the TETRIX motors blow up very fast.  We stalled one during arm prototyping and it released the magic smoke within one second.  Will have to be very careful from now on.  Researching it led to some informative conversations by the FRC guys when they were using these motors for their minibot designs:

Team Iron Reign has entered Moonbots once again, this time for the 2012 season.  The team is the same, but the rules are a bit different, the most drastic changes being a competition timeline that extends into the school year and - this is really surprising to me - having the teams build their own game fields.  We have already finished and uploaded the video required for phase one, as is required by Wednesday.  To see the video or check on our progress, you can use the first link below.  You can also find updates about our progress and info about the challenge itself there as well.  Use the second link if you want to see our team profile as is shown on the official Moonbots website.  That's about it for now.  See you later! The team had a great time presenting their robotics work to the 4th, 5th and 6th grades at Travis Vanguard and Academy at last Friday's Fab Friday.  For those who attended, we hope you get a chance to share what you saw with your family.  Here is a set of links that will help you share and understand more about what you saw:

Our Ultimate Salad bar presentation at the UTA qualifier - we earned the first place project trophy for this.

We have a lot of entries in our blog.  The blog is used to document our ideas and progress:

This blog entry contains most of what we know about line or edge following for our NXT robots.  We talk about how to build a smooth or proportional line follower.  We plan to improve on it with some drawings and videos, but we hope this is useful to you in the meantime.

We haven't put together a perfect run of the missions we do, but we're soooo close. Here we missed the groceries. We've since fixed that problem, but now we're usually missing one of the rats. Hopefully we'll get lucky at the tournament.
